How to sterilize a micropipette?

view 2468

Autoclaving is the simplest sterilization method if all micropipette parts tolerate extreme heat. It is recommended to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for correct autoclaving.

  1. To achieve sterility, a holding time of at least 20 minutes at 121°C (252°F) is required.
  2. You can use steam sterilization bags if necessary. After autoclaving, the micropipette must be cooled to room temperature for at least two hours.
  3. It is recommended to check the calibration of the instrument after each sterilization procedure to obtain the best accuracy and precision.
